A Groovy Kind of Love – Phil Collins

Phil Collins, born 31 January, 1951 in London, England.  He started as a drummer for Genesis, and when Peter Gabriel left the band, he took lead vocals.

Let’s face it.  He can’t sing.  Well, he can, but he’s certainly not got the best voice.  However, ever since before I came in to this world, I was addicted to the sounds and voice of Genesis, and later, Phil Collins.

Their music was constantly playing whilst I was in my mothers’ womb, and right up until now, my dad still plays their music loudly.

If I had to pick just one song, that ever has existed, to be my favourite, it would have to be Phil Collins’ version of “Groovy Kind of Love”.  It literally gives me goosebumps, and more often than not, a tear to my eye, and I don’t even know why.

Here’s the lyrics – the video is below.

When I’m feeling blue, all I have to do
Is take a look at you, then I’m not so blue
When you’re close to me, I can feel your heart beat
I can hear you breathing near my ear
Wouldn’t you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love

Anytime you want to you can turn me onto
Anything you want to, anytime at all
When I kiss your lips, ooh I start to shiver
Can’t control the quivering inside
Wouldn’t you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love, oh

When I’m feeling blue, all I have to do
Is take a look at you, then I’m not so blue
When I’m in your arms, nothing seems to matter
My whole world could shatter, I don’t care
Wouldn’t you agree, baby you and me got a groovy kind of love
We got a groovy kind of love
We got a groovy kind of love, oh
We got a groovy kind of love

List: Likes and Loves

The second of my posts of lists, this should be a little easier to write.  I’m hoping to get to 100, but looking at how difficult my dislike list was yesterday, we’ll just have to wait and see, ha ha.

So, without further ado, I give you, in no particular order, my list of likes and loves.

I-Dont-Care-I-Love-It4

  • Michael and William ❤ (for those of you who don’t know, these are my husband and son).
  • Chocolate.
  • Birds – I’m an ornithologist.   *This part has been edited.  I originally wrote that I was a budding ornithologist, but my husband pointed out that I’m not a beginner any more, ha ha.
  • Coffee.  I drink WAY too much.
  • Bacon butties with brown sauce.
  • The sound of the Highland Bagpipes.  I get goosebumps every time I hear the pipes.
  • Scotland.  More particular, Fort William and Lochaber.
  • Gordon Ramsay.
  • Jet Li.
  • Jackie Chan.
  • The Forbidden Kingdom…  What I would do to be Michael Angarano in the scene where he gets bitch-slapped by Jet and Jackie.
  • Supernatural.  Dean; Castiel; Sam (I suppose)…
  • Doctor Who?!
  • Reading.
  • Writing (stories, letters, lists…).
  • Listening to music.
  • Singing along (badly) to my favourite songs.  My husband pointed out that this is on my dislike list if other people do it…  Obviously, I wasn’t included in my evaluation 😉  Ha ha.
  • Phil Collins.
  • Camping.
  • Baking.  Cakes, biscuits…  Anything!
  • Cooking.  Contrary to belief, I do like cooking.  It’s the aftermath I don’t like (cleaning).
  • YSL Opium.
  • Gning Bear (the first G is silent).  This is my son’s teddy bear.  It’s small, soft, and really cute…

  • (Blue) Persil powder.  Michael had to stop me a few times, when I was heading towards it with a spoon, when Will was in the belly, ha ha.
  • Red onions.  Raw, cooked, in a salad, on their own…  It doesn’t matter.  Any which way…  Mmmm…
  • Journals / notebooks.  I see a pretty journal, I buy it, I put it away and I never use it.  Then, several years later, I find the journal, look at it and say, “oh, I forgot I bought that.  How pretty.”  Then I put it away again…
  • Stationery in general.  We have a chest of drawers full of pens, pencils, rules, markers, paper, books, felt, card, etc.  Seriously.
  • Snow.
  • Wintery nights.
  • Thunder and lightning.
  • September.
  • October.
  • The crunching of leaves in Autumn.
  • Dragons.
  • Vampires…  To an extent.  I mean real vampires (think Vampire Diaries).  I don’t like the sparkly ‘fairy’ vampires…  Hmmm?  Ha ha.
  • Ancient Egypt.
  • Ancient Greece.
  • Scuba diving.
  • Swimming.
  • Martial arts.  Well, some of them.  I love the Chinese arts.
  • Belly dancing.
  • Ballet.
  • Pointe shoes.
  • Tutu’s.
  • Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture’.
  • Debussy’s ‘Clair de Lune’
  • Holidays.  Whether it’s for a fortnight, a week, a weekend, or even an overnight stay.  Getting away from it all is fab.
  • Horses.
  • Being outside.
  • BBQ’s.
  • Playing on the beach (it’s acceptable now that I have a little one.  People seemed to give me funny looks before Will…  Ha ha).
  • Hair.  Long hair that can be styled.  Not necessarily my own…  I love to style peoples’ hair.
  • The military style drums (bass and side drum).
  • Purple.  More so the ‘Cadbury’s Purple’
  • Word games.
  • Card games.
  • Sharing a big bubble bath with my little man.
  • Books.  This is not the same as reading.  I’m a danger to my bank account whenever I walk near a book shop.  Waterstones love me, ha ha.
  • Yachts.  I love sailing with my dad ❤
  • My camera.  I have a GE-W1500.  It may not be a ‘professional’, or an expensive one, but it takes amazing shots!
  • Ford cars.
  • Craft fairs.  So, I may have slated them previously, but I love the idea of them.  Even if you can’t make your table hire money back.
  • The smell of your hair after you have just dyed it…  You know…  The conditioner smell?  I find it quite pleasant.
  • Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
  • The smell of Sudacrem.
  • Peeling PVA glue off the back of your hand.  Yes.  I still do this today, ha ha.
  • Massages.
  • Manicures.
  • Beautifully manicured nails.  Not that I have them myself, but I like them when I have them 🙂
  • Aubern coloured hair.
  • Dexter.
  • Amy Farrah Fowler.  If you watch the Big Bang Theory, you’d know why. ha ha.

  • My mum ❤
  • Red Martini.
  • Bailey’s.
  • Banana Mama (cocktail we had on our honeymoon, in the Dominican Republic).
  • Profiteroles.
  • Chocolate eclairs.
  • Maps.  I could literally look at, and plan journeys for hours on a map.  Yes, I am a female.  Yes, I love maps!
  • Williams’ feet.  Those are the only feet in the world that I LOVE!
  • Xbox
  • Assassin’s Creed (all but the third – the one with Connor.  I did NOT like that one).
  • Fallout.
  • Diamonds.
  • Rubies.
  • The name William.
  • Glee.  Yep.  I’m a Gleek.
  • The Walking Dead.  I’d still be watching this if all the main characters died, and only Darryl was left…  ^_^
  • Iron-Man.  Saying that, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it if it wasn’t Robert Downey Jr. who played him.
  • Trinkets, like little wooden boxes.
  • Lego.
  • Blogging.  I couldn’t leave that out could I?!  Ha ha.

So there you have it.  100 things I like and love.  I’m sure the list would be endless, but I don’t want to use up all the storage in cyberspace…

Next up is a list of towns, cities and countries.  Places I’ve been, and places I’d like to visit.
